Kyle Allen

It is week 13 and for most of us, this is our last chance to secure a playoff spot. There is no week more critical to ensuring a chance to win your league than this one, so make sure you’re prepared! This injury report serves to both keep you informed of the latest injury outlooks and provide some insight into who should benefit the most from players who are missing time. As always, if you have a question that isn’t answered in this article, or a question about one of these players, you can always reach out to me on twitter (@kallen_4) or reddit (u/kallen_4)!

*This list excludes players on their bye week, on the COVID list, and players currently on IR that are not eligible to return this week.*

Quarterbacks:

Nick Foles, Chicago Bears

Hip, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status: Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Full, Friday- Full
Next Man Up: Foles is listed as questionable due to the hip pointer that he suffered in week 11 despite having two consecutive full practices. Mitchell Trubisky took the reins last week due to Foles’ absence and it is currently unclear who will start for Chicago even if Foles is healthy enough to play. Neither carries much fantasy relevant, but Trubisky was at least able to bolster Allen Robinson’s value.

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

Thumb, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday-
Next Man Up: Stafford played through this thumb injury on Thanksgiving but wore a low profile wrap on his throwing hand to protect the thumb in question. It is unlikely that he will miss week 13, but should still be monitored in case of any setbacks. If he is held out, the Lions will likely start veteran backup Chase Daniel in his place which likely spells a steep decline in weekly production for all Detroit pass catchers.

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Thumb, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday-
Next Man Up: One of the biggest QB questions coming out of week 12 was Tua’s availability after the bye. He has been limited and coach Brian Flores states that he will likely be a game time decision. If he cannot go, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start for Miami and likely carry QB2 value with upside.

Cam Newton, New England Patriots

Abdomen, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: This injury seems to have popped up out of the blue and has limited Newton’s practice schedule this week. Should he miss any time the Patriots will be forced to choose between career backup Brian Hoyer and young Jarrett Stidham who has been underwhelming at best in his few career appearances. Patriots pass catchers will likely carry little fantasy relevance moving forward unless Newton can play.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Hamstring, DOUBTFUL
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: Jones is listed as doubtful due to a hamstring injury suffered in week 12. He will likely be replaced by Colt McCoy. With Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard battling with their own ailments throughout practice this week, it is difficult to trust any Giants skill player not named Wayne Gallman (who is the RB6 in PPR scoring since week 7).

Running Backs:

Todd Gurley, Atlanta Falcons

Knee, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: After missing week 12 with a knee injury, Gurley will enter week 13 with a questionable designation. Last week Brian Hill and Ito Smith split work for the Atlanta backfield, which should continue in the absence of Gurley.

Phillip Lindsay, Denver Broncos

Knee, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Full
Next Man Up: Lindsay’s knee has limited him in practice this week, but he has progressed throughout the week to a full status. He currently has a questionable designation. If Lindsay can’t play, the Broncos are left with Melvin Gordon handling the lead back duties, and shouldering the majority of Denver’s fantasy relevance.

D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions

Concussion/Illness, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- DNP, Friday- DNP
Next Man Up: Swift has cleared the NFL concussion protocol, but has been delayed in returning to practice due to a non-COVID illness. Earlier this week, Adrian Peterson mentioned that Swift’s energy did not seem the same and he was “not himself”. It is not known if this is related to the concussion or the illness, and his status for week 13 is still in question. Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson will share work in the Detroit backfield should he remain unavailable.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

Illness, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- DNP
Next Man Up: The Chiefs’ star rookie running back has not been able to shake the funk this week and was held out of practice due to a stomach virus. He is expected to be cleared for their week 13 game, but we likely will not know until closer to game time. If he misses the game, Le’Veon Bell and Darrel Williams will handle the Rb duties for Kansas City.

Josh Jacobs, Oakland Raiders

Ankle, OUT
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- DNP
Next Man Up: After getting rolled up on in week 12, Jacobs will miss week 13 with an ankle injury. This leaves Las Vegas with Devonte Booker as the lead back and a popular waiver wire pick this week.

Kalen Ballage, Los Angeles Chargers

Ankle, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Full
Next Man Up: The Ballage Mahal was surprisingly effective as a lead back for LA in the absence of other options, but it seems this injury may spell a return to the bench. Austin Ekeler returned last week and did not seem to miss a beat. He will continue to lead the Chargers backfield moving forward.

Malcolm Perry, Miami Dolphins

Chest, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Limited

DeAndre Washington, Miami Dolphins

Hamstring, DOUBTFUL
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- Limited

Salvon Ahmed, Miami Dolphins

Shoulder, DOUBTFUL
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Limited

Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins

Knee, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: Reports out of the Dolphins’ front office are that Washington and Ahmed are doubtful despite some limited practices this week. Gaskin has been on IR since week 9, but could potentially return this week. However, it is not guaranteed that he will return at this point and the Dolphins have until 4pm ET on Saturday to make the call. Matt Breida is currently the acting lead back for Miami.

Wide Receivers:

Olamide Zaccheaus, Atlanta Falcons

Toe, OUT/IR
Practice Status:
N/A

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons

Hamstring, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- DNP, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: With Zacchaeus now out with a toe injury and Jones’ status looking increasingly bleak, Calvin Ridley appears the be the clear favorite in Atlanta this week. Russell Gage is likely to see an increase target share as well, but it is difficult to trust anyone outside of Ridley.

Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears

Knee, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- N/A, Thursday- N/A, Friday- Limited

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

Knee, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- N/A, Thursday- N/A, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: Robinson was a late addition to the list after suffering a knee injury in practice on Friday and Mooney has been nursing a knee injury all week. This is bad news for the Bears as Robinson is their most dangerous offensive weapon and quite frankly, their only consistently fantasy relevant player. Mooney has been quickly increasing his impact and target share, but QBs can’t seem to find him with the ball. Anthony Miller will be the primary beneficiary in the passing game with tight end Jimmy Graham likely seeing some added work on third downs and in the red zone.

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

Ankle, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Full
Next Man Up: Jeudy progressed through week and was able to turn in a full practice on Friday. This is a good indicator that he should be ready to play in week 13. Should he miss any time, the Broncos will be reliant on Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler as their primary receivers with Noah Fant likely seeing an increased target load as well.

Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions

Hip, OUT
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- DNP
Next Man Up: Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, Golladay has been ruled out again this week. The Lions will again be without their #1 receiver leaving Marvin Jones as the first option alongside Danny Amendola and tight end TJ Hockenson, who has been heavily featured of late.

Chris Conley, Jacksonville Jaguars

Hip, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Wednesday- Limited, Thursday- Limited, Friday- Limited
Next Man Up: The Jaguars are happy to get leading receiver DJ Chark back in action this week, but they still aren’t at 100%. Last week when the Jaguars receiving corps was absolutely decimated, rookie Collin Johnson was the star of the show recording career highs in targets, receptions, and yards. He led the team with 19.6 PPR points and figures to remain a staple of the passing game alongside Keelan Cole and RB James Robinson until the Jaguars get all everyone healthy.

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

Hamstring, QUESTIONABLE
Practice Status:
Thursday- DNP, Friday- Full
Next Man Up: Samuel has yet to practice this week with a sore hamstring leaving the 49ers in dire straits among their pass catchers. In a season full of injuries, their leading healthy receiver is now rookie Brandon Aiyuk, who should see a great share of the passing work if Samuel is not able to play.

Tight Ends:

Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota Vikings

Back, OUT
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- DNP
Next Man Up: Smith will miss week 13 due to a lingering back issue that he was unable to recover from throughout practice this week. Kyle Rudolph will lead the Vikings tight end position on the week and should receive a small bump in targets, but he likely will not receive enough attention to glean much fantasy value.

Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans

Knee, OUT
Practice Status:
Wednesday- DNP, Thursday- DNP, Friday- DNP
Next Man Up: Jonnu Smith has been ruled out for week 13 due to a knee injury. This means that Anthony Firkser will take his place in the starting lineup and likely absorb his target share as well. AJ Brown may take on some of the vacated red zone work as he presents a large target in the critical area, but Firkser figures to work in the middle of the field and on short yardage situations.

Remember, injury status is a moving target and the majority of these situations are liable to change between now and game time this weekend. Keep an eye on your roster, and monitor the official injury reports closely as the week comes to an end. When in doubt, play the healthy player, and remember, the best ability is availability! That concludes the week 13 injury report, if you have any questions or comments, please reach out to me via twitter (@kallen_4) or reddit (u/kallen_4). Good luck this week––go earn those playoff berths!
